Consider making any changes to your benefits
Marriage is a qualifying life event, which means you can modify some of your benefits within 30 days of getting married. (This also applies to starting a domestic partnership.) Examples include:
- Adding your spouse/domestic partner to your medical, dental, and vision benefits, or dropping any of these benefits to enroll in your spouse’s/domestic partner’s plans.
- Making allowable changes to your life and AD&D insurance and/or critical illness, accident, and hospital indemnity insurance.

To change your benefits, visit Workday > Menu > Benefits & Pay > Change Elections.
For your change to be processed, provide a copy of your marriage certificate or Domestic Partner Affidavit within 30 days of getting married or after at least one year of a new domestic partnership.
You’re also required to submit Dependent Verification Documentation and dependent Social Security numbers when you submit your qualifying life event if you add any additional new dependents due to your marriage.
Note: Coverage and premiums are effective on the original effective date of the event. Any missed premium payroll deductions will appear on your next pay in full as a retroactive deductionRetroactive Premium Deduction: Coverage and premiums are effective on the original effective date of your enrollment event. Once your enrollment or change is approved and finalized, any missed premium payroll deductions dating back to the effective date will appear on your next pay as a retroactive deduction and will be deducted from your check in full..
Update your personal and tax information
Don’t forget to update your home address, phone number, or other personal information in Workday. If you make changes to your name, you’ll need a new Social Security card and will need to contact RTX HR Shared Services at (800) 901-9025 or email MyHR@Rentokil-Terminix.com.
Review your tax withholding information
Review your tax withholding information and make any updates in Workday > Menu > Pay > Withholding Elections > Update. Consult a tax advisor to determine what’s right for you.
Update your contributions to tax-advantaged accounts
Make sure your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA) contributions align with your financial needs.
Prepare or update your will
If you’re enrolled in LegalEASE, you can connect to an attorney for help updating your will or creating a new will to reflect your new status. LegalEASE can also help you with other legal matters, such as buying, selling, or renting a home.
Resources for Living also offers one free 30-minute in-person or phone consultation with a network attorney per separate legal matter. If you decide to continue working with the attorney, you will receive a reduced rate.
Reach out for emotional support, if needed
Marriage comes with its own unique set of challenges. If you find yourself needing emotional support, use the Resources for Living program. (Username: Rentokil; password: EAP)
Update your beneficiary information
You may need to add or update beneficiaries for the following benefits. A beneficiary is the person who you want to receive benefits in the event of your death.
Your legal spouse/domestic partner at the time of your death is automatically your beneficiary unless you have elected another beneficiary, and your spouse/domestic partner has provided documented consent.
- Life insurance: If you submit a marriage or domestic partnership qualifying life event, you’ll be able to update your life beneficiary along with your other benefits. If you don’t submit a qualifying life event, change your life beneficiaries by visiting Workday > Menu > Benefits & Pay> Change Benefits > Change Beneficiaries.
